Challenge

A food and cultural market of this scale, distributed across an indoor hall, a covered corridor, and open-air rooftop terraces facing the sea, called for a loudspeaker specification able to deliver even, unobtrusive background sound across every kitchen stall and seating area. The terraces demanded speakers that could perform reliably in direct sea-facing outdoor conditions, while the indoor hall required a discreet installation that would not compete visually with the market's food stalls, planting, and signage. The sheer size of the outdoor terraces also meant that a single mounting solution would not have been enough to achieve even coverage across the whole space.

Solution

Ibersound, the integrator behind the project, specified Ecler's loudspeaker range throughout the venue.

Indoors, the ARQISi series of cabinet loudspeakers, in ARQIS106i and ARQIS108i models paired with ARQISSB10i and ARQISSB12i subwoofers, was mounted on poles integrated into the market's planted areas, blending into the greenery of cacti and succulents that runs through several indoor zones of the venue.

On the open-air terraces, the outdoor eMOTUS Series was installed using two different mounting approaches, on the terraces' concrete columns and on poles set among the landscaped planting, in order to achieve consistent coverage across an outdoor space of this size while withstanding direct sea-facing conditions.

LABI1-C100i column loudspeakers were installed indoors, flanking the doors that open onto the terrace, facing the long communal wooden tables where most visitors sit to eat and drink.

For the rest of the market hall and indoor dining areas, VIC6X and IC6 in-ceiling speakers were installed, fitted with IC-TB6 tile bridges for a clean, low-profile finish above the stalls and seating areas.

Results

Across the indoor kitchens, the covered corridor, and the open-air terraces, the loudspeaker specification adapts to each zone's own conditions, whether that means blending into a stall's planting, mounting on a terrace column, or disappearing into a ceiling above a seating area. The result is a discreet installation that stays out of sight while covering a venue of this size, letting the focus remain on the market's food offer and its views over Port Vell.
