1983, Landing: SAP4 & TAP7

After the mandatory period in the factory, required for any new hire in the eighties, I faced my first challenge as an engineer, at that time not even a. I designed its printed boards based on the electric schema of José Maria Sans, who signed them. In their tests you could get burnt if you touch a metal surface at 60 degrees, I discovered.

“You will get feed up of going to fairs”.

It was spring 1984 when Ramón Lacruz proposed that I participate in the Valencia Music Show to provide technical support. Since I was already an avid Sonimag catalogue collector, I loved this proposal. My problem was that on those dates I had to deliver my final degree project and I was really delayed. Mr Francisco Jurado, the teacher who was in charge of my project, insisted that I finish the project. I will never forget what he told me: “Don’t go, don’t worry, you will get fed up of going to shows, finish the project”. Sleeping a few hours for several days, I presented the project and went to the Show. Professor Francisco was right, I have got fed up of going to fairs.

Ecler SPM Technology

At the end of the 80’s we launched the SPM TECHNOLOGY (PAM 500 & PAM 800), an amplification technology using switching MOSFETs that provided obvious and proven functional advantages. This technology developed by Mingo Melé and Angel Sanuy was patented by Ecler and even today many of these amplifiers, from some of their 6 generations, serve satisfactorily, they are practically indestructible.

From DJ to Commercial Audio

At the beginning of this century, ECLER reached its zenith of international recognition as a manufacturer of DJ mixers. The transition from analogue to digital: vinyl to digital files marked the beginning of a new era. At the same time, an emerging market needed reliable, durable electronics and loudspeakers with friendly aesthetics for decorator’s and architect’s eyes. They came knocking on our door: shops, hotels, restaurants, sport centres, etc.  We immersed ourselves in Commercial Audio with high added aesthetic value products. Our course had changed.

...and they gave us wings

The crisis that began in 2008 seriously affected our company. The sharp drop in turnover of Martin Lighting, the leading Danish brand we distributed exclusively in Spain, 80% in two years, lead us among other circumstances to a harsh downsizing. In just 3 years the number of employees decreased from 70 to 33. Definitively the hardest part of these 40 years. We took refuge in our core business and lead by newcomer David Loza, today our Head of Technology, EclerNetManager was presented in 2010, the beginning of a successful family of products and one of the pillars of our current business.

The Fordahl group led by Tom Bouman acquired ECLER in 2014, since that moment, every four years the company has doubled its turnover, Ecler already had wings.

Many thanks for these unbelievable 40 years!

It has been a long journey, with crossroads, ups and downs. The destination may be defined but, in the end, you understand the most important thing about the trip are the travelling companions. All the people who at one time or another have shared the path have been, are and will be important. For all and to all, my most sincere gratitude.
