Western City is an entertainment centre which brings the magic of the Far West to Eastern Europe. This impressive venue is the largest of this type in Slovakia. It is spreaded out around around 5.000 sqm and neighbours upon the biggest aquapark in the country. It is located in one the most beautiful spots of Slovakia, very close to the Polish border and the well known National Park of High Tatras. Also it is important to inform that the area is not an attraction for the summer season only, because the thermal pools allow visitors to enjoy both venues in autumm or even in winter.

Western City is doing daily a show with a lot of action. Horses, shooting and explosions mixed with the actors dialogues. The venue was looking for a sound system capable to deliver a big amount of power in a very short reaction time in order to meet perfectly visual and sound of shootings and explosions. Therefore the slew rate of amplifiers was one of the key requirements for this installation. After checking numerous brands in the market the venue found out that Ecler amplifiers had the best slew rate due to its SPM (Switching Power Mosfet) technology. In example, the two references PAM 6100 which are driving the subwoofers EPC 218 (2 x 18") have a slew rate of 135 V/microsec, an unbeatable value for other brands competing for the job.

The SPM Technology combines the use of switching MOSFETs with an efficient system of protections that acts in a non agressive way on the sound quality. What are the Switching Mosfet Characteristics? The switching MOSFETs have a higher switching speed than the bipolar transistor and a 7 times greater gain-bandwidth product. However, the difficult to find an optimal design for their use in audio proffessional amplifiers was the reason why few companies decided to use them in their applications. In consequence, the conventional audio MOSFETs spread in the audio amplifier world although their excellent properties were used in the robotics field. Moreover, the switching MOSFET is more linear with less harmonic components. The result is a very fast Slew rate and in consequence high and low frequencies response improvement achieving very high instantaneous output voltage increments. Loudspeakers are resolutely driven (Good damping) . Music reproduction with hard transients has an amazing reality.

ECLER was the first company that developped and patented a system able to use the switching MOSFETs in pro audio amplifiers, taking benefit of their advantages thanks to the non-destructive system of protections. For this reason in 1997 Ecler received the AWARD for Technological Innovation from the Catalan Regional Government in recognition for its SPM Technology.
